Qubix Drive
Qubix Drive is a file space built into Qubix, organised into Personal, Team and Shared areas. You keep folders and files there — assets, images, notes and files you share with the team.
You work with it in two places:
- The browser panel — the file manager inside the Tools section, with folders, uploads, previews and search. See Managing files.
- A disk on your computer — the Qubix Drive desktop app mounts your Qubix content (your sites, scripts and Drive pages) as a local disk, so you can edit it in your own tools. See Desktop client.
Both read the same account with the same access rules, but they show different parts of it: the panel is where your Drive folders and files live, while the disk also brings in your sites and scripts for editing.
Three areas: who can see what
Everything in Drive lives in one of three areas. The area decides who can see the item — it is how sharing works:
| Area | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Personal | Only you. |
| Team | You and everyone on your team. |
| Shared | Everyone in the workspace. |
At the top level you see the three areas side by side; open one to see its folders and files. A new item starts in the area you create it in — new items are personal by default.
Different sharing for different folders
Each folder carries its own area, so you can keep one folder personal and another shared at the same time. Everything inside a folder takes the folder's area: put a folder in Shared and everything you add to it is shared too.
Moving an item changes its sharing
When you move an item into a folder, it takes on that folder's area. Move a personal file into a shared folder and it becomes shared; move it back into a personal folder and it's private again. This keeps an item's sharing in step with where it lives — you never have a "private" file sitting inside a shared folder. Only the item you move changes; folders already inside it keep their own sharing.
Who can do what
What you can do in Drive depends on your role:
- Managing files — creating folders, uploading, renaming, moving and deleting — is a permission. By default it belongs to administrators.
- Everyone else can browse the areas they're allowed to see, open and download files, and leave comments.
An administrator can grant file management to other roles through role templates — see Templates. Access is always enforced on the server, the same whether you work in the panel or through the mounted disk.
Qubix Drive is available on every plan — it isn't tied to a specific license.
