Tools

Tools is a built-in catalogue: create a document, open the file manager, strip a watermark off a picture or edit it. Everything works right in the admin — no separate services and no uploads to third parties.

How to use the catalogue

  1. Open the Tools section in the menu.
  2. Narrow the list with the category buttons: All, Documents, Images. Each button shows how many tools it holds, and the chosen category stays in the address — the page can be bookmarked or shared as it is.
  3. Click a card. A tool either opens in a window over the catalogue or takes you straight to the file it works on.

Categories with no tools are not shown at all, and neither are their buttons.

Documents

The first three cards create a file on the Drive and open it in its editor. The fourth opens the file manager and creates nothing.

  • SpreadsheetsSpreadsheets with formulas, filters, sorting and conditional formatting. Click to create one on the Drive.
  • DocumentsRich-text documents with formatting, comments and version history. Click to create one on the Drive.
  • MarkdownLightweight Markdown pages — notes, guides, knowledge bases. Click to create one on the Drive.
  • FilesThe Drive file manager: personal, team and shared folders, uploads of any files, history and comments.

Under the All and Documents filters, and only if you have access to the Drive, a strip of recently edited documents is shown below the catalogue — a shortcut back to what you worked on last.

Images

  • Remove watermarkStrip Gemini, Imagen, Midjourney and other AI-generator logos from images with no quality loss.
  • Image editorOpens a picture from the team drive: crop, rotate, flip, filters, captions, watermark. Saving puts the file back where it was and keeps the previous look in the version history.

The picture editor has no screen of its own: it asks which picture to take from the Drive, and opens that file. Saving puts the file back where it was and keeps the previous look in its version history.

note

What you see depends on your access.

  • Remove watermark is shown to everyone — it needs no access to the Drive.
  • The whole Documents category, Files included, needs access to the Drive. Without it the category disappears entirely.
  • Creating a document additionally needs the right to manage files on the Drive, and the editor for that file type must be released.
  • Image editor needs both: access to the Drive and the right to manage files there — it saves the picture back.

Missing a tool

At the end of the catalogue there is a Suggest a tool announcement — Tell us what to add — the slot in the catalogue is reserved. It is shown under the All filter.
